Speak my Silence (Part1 of 3)



It’s been quite long as I remember since this words has been a big question from everybody. People around is wondering why in my age, and in this era I haven’t had any boyfriend. They say I’m pretty, beautiful, “ma-appeal”, charming, smiling face, kind, etc. etc. and some are asking me kung sang kweba ba ako galing? People won’t believe it if I told them I’m single since birth. Sabi nila I’m a big fat liar, reactions like “weh! d nga!” and big question mark painted on their faces.

I am wondering why is it so difficult to believe that a woman can remain single at her 20's. What is the big deal for having a Boyfriend? Is it really necessary to have one? Is it something a girl at 18 should have; 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29, 30?


Stereotype of NBSB for some means a girl is ugly, but NBSB for others is a choice . . . career first, bad experience, fears, strict parents, and the likes


But honestly what’s really my excuse? 
If you’re going to ask me years ago I would just answer back…  
1. “It’s just my choice (wala lang)
2. I don’t need one, I’m happy being single and mingling around. 
3. It’s better to stay friends, 
4. love to be the friend . . .  friend just friends etc. basta FRIENDS” 
5. but when you caught me on my silliness I would probably answer back “Boys are just a head ache- parang kumuha ng bato at ipupokpok sa ulo! hahahaha!”.


Sabi nila tomboy daw ako. oh well that was once in my elementary and mid high school years, may haka haka that I might be more attracted to girls than boys… I may be a boyish but not a lesbian. I remember I have my crush at grade 2… playing “lemon orange lemon juice tell me the name of your sweetheart” tapos sadyang magpapa-out sa letter “Z” (Zoren Legaspi). . . those were the days. Ngayon alam ko na kung bakit crush ko si Zoren, i so adore their love story with Carmina... Sweet!!!


I’ve heard from many that you become more mature when you are in a relationship. But... wouldn’t it be enough to hear and relate from my friends stories of experiences… hahaha! (Anu nga bang story yun Michelle?)
Most of my friends run to me when they have problems or broken hearted… hahaha! Lol!
But some are convincing me to try because not all relationships end up bad. I just smiled . . . hindi naman kasi pwede na mag-boyfriend for the sake of having a boyfriend. It’s going to be unfair not just on the part of the guy (sino niloko mo?) but mostly on the lady’s side.


For now I am happy hearing my friends and other’s love stories but I never pictured myself of having a boyfriend.
